George Women Network · Community safety project

Where do you meet when you buy or sell online?

We're building George's first list of safe meet-up spots — well-lit, public places where a woman can hand over a pram, a couch or a school blazer without giving a stranger her home address. Know a spot you trust? Add it in 2 minutes.

Sound familiar?

We've all been there

Marketplace and the George buy-and-sell groups are brilliant for moms and small businesses. But the handover can leave you feeling uneasy.

"Just come fetch it at my house."

It's easy — but now a stranger knows where you and your children live.

"Can we meet after work?"

By then it's dark, and "the parking lot" turns out to be the quiet corner of it.

"I'll just bring the kids along."

Because there's no one to watch them — and you're not quite sure where you're going.

Imagine if every woman in George simply knew where the safe places were — because other women had already shared them.

That's what we're building, together.
What we're looking for

What makes a spot "safe"?

Think of the places where you'd happily meet a stranger — and why. A good safe spot usually ticks a few of these boxes:

Well-lit

Bright enough to see faces and number plates — even on a grey Garden Route afternoon.

Busy with people

Other shoppers, families, staff — plenty of eyes around at the times people usually meet.

CCTV cameras

Cameras covering the parking or entrance — a big deterrent for anyone up to no good.

Security or police close by

Guards at the boom, car guards you know, or a police station right there.

Easy parking, easy exit

You can park close, see the entrance, and leave quickly without getting boxed in.

Open when you need it

Open early, late or on weekends — the times most of us actually do our handovers.

How it works

Three small steps, one safer George

You share what you already know. We check it. Every woman in town benefits.

1

You share a spot

Tell us your name and area, the place, why it feels safe — and drop a pin on the map. About 2 minutes, no account.

2

We check it

Our team reviews every single spot before it goes live, so the list stays trustworthy.

3

George gets safer

It's added to the free Safe Meet-Up Spot map, with directions, for every woman to use before her next deal.

Spread the word

Let's put a safe spot in every corner of George

The list is only as good as the women who add to it. Share this page with your friends, your moms' group and your WhatsApp neighbourhood chat — one share could mean one more safe handover.

Questions

Good to know

Do I need to sign up or log in?

Not at all. Just add your first name and where you're from so we know a real woman from our community shared the spot. That's it.

Will my name be shown to everyone?

Only if you want it to be. Your name, area and email stay private with our team unless you tick "Show 'Shared by me'" on the form — then only your first name and area appear next to your spot.

Why do you need a pin on the map?

"The mall" can mean five different entrances. A pin shows other women exactly which parking row or door you mean — and lets them tap for directions on the day.

Who checks the spots?

Our You're Worth It team reviews every submission before it appears on the list. We're not the police and can't guarantee any place — but we do make sure each spot is sensible and genuinely public.

What if a spot isn't safe anymore?

Every spot on the list has a Report button. If a few women report the same spot, it's automatically taken off the list until we've looked at it again.

I own a business with guards and cameras — can I add it?

Yes, please! Coffee shops, nurseries, pharmacies, gyms — if you'd welcome women doing handovers at your door, add it and mention the opening hours in the "anything else" box.

Can I add more than one spot?

Of course — after you submit, tap "Add another spot". The more, the better.

How do I have my details removed?

Email hello@youreworthit.site and we'll remove them. Your spot can stay on the list without your name.
